no 32/17 Nasdaq Commodities to go live with German Only Electricity Futures Contracts on May 18, 2017

Nasdaq Commodities will go live with the new German Only Electricity Futures Contracts (“German Only”) on May 18, 2017.

The new contracts will be settled against the average of the hourly prices from the day-ahead auction for the German/Austrian price zone until a split of the German/Austrian prize zone and, in case the split becomes effective, against the average of the hourly prices from the day-ahead auction for the German price zone thereafter.

At launch date May 18, there will be six (6) monthly German Only Electricity Average Rate futures contracts, seven (7) quarterly German Only Electricity futures contracts and five (5) yearly German Only Electricity futures contracts listed. The nearest month future contract available for trading and clearing will be the June 2017 contract.

From June 1 there will be seven (7) monthly German Only Electricity Average Rate Futures contracts, seven (7) quarterly German Only Electricity futures contracts and five (5) yearly German Only Electricity futures contracts listed. Please see the quotation list below.

The new “German Only” contracts will be listed in parallel to the existing German Futures Contracts (DE/AT Futures) that settle against the combined German and Austrian price. For further clarification, no changes are made to the existing contracts.

Nasdaq Commodities will also provide inter-product spreads contracts for members to trade between the new and the existing contracts.

In connection with the launch of these new products, Nasdaq Clearing Risk Management is increasing the number of Risk Groups. The new Risk Groups are EDEFBL for the Base products and EDEFPL for the Peak products.
