IT – INET – REMINDER - Mandatory migration to Binary OUCH and Retirement of OUCH DROP - (47/15)

As previously communicated in IT-Notice 30/15 Nasdaq Nordic and Nasdaq Baltic will introduce a larger improvement to the native INET protocols.

The implementation of binary OUCH is one of the first important steps in the preparation for MiFID II. Nasdaq Nordic will introduce nanosecond timestamp granularity across all INET Nordic protocols. A number of additional changes are introduced with the binary OUCH protocol including, but not limited to, introduction of optional fields.

Optional fields are supported in Enter Order, Replace Order and their respective acknowledgement messages. This includes fields with default values. Fields are only included in the acknowledgement messages if they have a value. An OUCH port configuration setting determines whether to include optional fields in outbound messages (default) or not. Please contact Nasdaq Cash Equity Operations to disable optional fields in outbound messages.

A new field, Clearing Account Type (optional), is added to the Enter Order, Replace Order, Order Accepted and Order Replaced messages to determine whether a trade is to be booked to a Client (Default) or House account at the CCP. The Client Account Type field will replace the role the Order Capacity field currently has in CCP clearing. The Order Capacity field remains.

More details about the changes are provided in the “Binary OUCH - Protocol Changes” document available under Future INET Nordic Protocol Specifications.

Latest information on all upcoming changes is available under “INET Nordic Enhancements”.

Protocol specifications and Delta document

Updated protocol specifications, including the underlying transport level binary protocol SoupBinTCP, and a delta document “Binary OUCH – Protocol Changes” is available at Nasdaq Nordic Technical Information web site under Future INET Nordic Protocol Specifications.

Implementation and migration schedule

Current OUCH ports need to be reconfigured by Nasdaq Nordic to use the binary version of the OUCH protocol including the underlying protocol SoupBinTCP. Members shall request reconfiguration of OUCH ports in OTF, on a per port basis, from Nasdaq Cash Equity Operations. Binary OUCH is available in OTF from June 22, 2015.

A mandatory certification of members’ OUCH application is required in OTF prior to Production launch. Only certified Binary OUCH applications are allowed in INET production. Certification test cases and procedures are available at Nasdaq Technical Information website under INET Nordic Certification. OUCH application providers need to contact Nasdaq Cash Equity Operations to book a certification time slot as early as possible.

Test and Production OUCH ports will be reconfigured to the binary version November 13, 2015, for launch in OTF November 14 and INET Production November 16, 2015. Prior to production launch, members needs to provide information about Application Provider, Application name and certified version to Nasdaq Cash Equity Operations, see the Member Readiness section below.

Members have the possibility to migrate production OUCH ports from October 26, 2015, a three weeks migration period for those that want a staggered migration rollout.

Current ASCII version of OUCH is obsolete from November 16, 2015.

OUCH DROP will be retired with the introduction of Binary OUCH. Members are advised to migrate their OUCH DROP ports to “FIX DROP for OUCH” prior to October 26, 2015, or no later than when their OUCH Order Entry ports are migrated to the binary version.

Nasdaq Nordic drop ports will only be available via FIX going forward (drop copies of FIX Order Entry-, FIX Trade Reporting- and OUCH Order Entry messages).

Migration to Binary OUCH is MANDATORY effective Nov 16, 2015!
