no 50/15 Launch of new Nordic Electricity Future and Option Contracts and extension of the German Electricity Product Suite

Nasdaq Commodities is pleased to announce the launch of new contracts for the Nordic and German Power markets. Subject to successful testing and regulatory approval, the changes will be activated for the below mentioned contracts on September 7, 2015.

In order to increase flexibility and facilitate for a broader product offering Nasdaq Commodities will list Future Contracts in parallel with the existing DS Future Contracts for the Nordic Electricity market.

Nordic Electricity Base monthly, quarterly and yearly future contracts
Nasdaq Commodities will extend the Nordic Electricity product offering with Nordic Electricity Base monthly, quarterly and yearly future contracts. In addition Nordic EPAD Electricity Base monthly, quarterly and yearly future contracts will be listed. The monthly contracts will be Average Rate future contracts which means they are tradable in the Spot Reference Period/Delivery Period. The Spot Reference Period covers the same time period as the Delivery Period. These contracts will be listed in parallel with the existing DS Future contracts.

In addition Nasdaq Commodities will facilitate for Future/DS Future standard combinations to be listed in conjunction with the introduction of the new Future Contracts.  At launch there will be four (4) monthly, six (6) quarterly and four (4) yearly standard combinations available for trading and clearing (no EPAD standard combinations at this point of time).  

German Electricity Base monthly Average Rate future contracts
Nasdaq Commodities will extend the German product offering with the German Electricity Base Average Rate month future contracts. These monthly contracts will be listed in parallel with the existing German monthly future (non- tradable in Delivery Period) and DS future contracts.

Nordic and German Electricity Base monthly Average Rate option contracts
In addition, Average Rate monthly option contracts will be listed. The European Style options deliver on the Expiration Day an underlying Average Rate month future contract. The options and the futures expire on the same day.

Quotation List
At launch September 7, there will be six (6) monthly Nordic and German Electricity Average Rate future and option contracts listed. The nearest month future and option contracts available for trading and clearing will be the October contracts. From October 1 there will be seven (7) monthly Nordic and German Electricity Average Rate future and option contracts listed (October 2015 - April 2016).

The trading and clearing rules and the product calendar of Nasdaq Commodities will be updated to reflect the launch of these products in due course.
