Genium Consolidated Feed, release 3.0

In April, 2015 Nasdaq will introduce Genium Consolidated Feed version 3.0. This release comes with a number of enhancements and benefits, most evidently in terms of connectivity and system performance. This is made possible by streamlining GCF system architecture with INET and Genium INET trading systems and thereby utilizing similar types of solutions. The GCF 3.0 system upgrades will to a large extent be transparent to customers.

What is the impact on customer systems?

Even though most of the changes are fully transparent, some of those will also require changes to the receiving systems:

1 ) Transport layer protocol is switched from XMP to SoupBin TCP meaning that

  • TIP message encapsulation changes from XMP to SoupBin
  • Sequence numbers will be removed from TIP (available in Soup)
  • All the request messages in TIP will change to SoupBin

2) Usernames and passwords

  • Changes to format of the usernames and passwords
  • CGF accounts require new username and password for the new test environment about to be introduced in December 2014, and for the production environment in April 2015. Please contact DataProducts@nasdaq.com to receive your new username(s) and password(s).

3) Content changes

  • The cross currency messages will no longer be available in GCF.
  • Some of the message type codes (“message names”) will be shortened
  • Minor changes in field names, data types and field lenghts
  • Line feed character will be removed from TIP

TIP 3.0 specification and a document containing list of the differences between TIP 2.4.8 and 3.0 are available here: http://www.nasdaqomx.com/transactions/technicalinformation/gcf/gcf-3.0

Testing

SoupBin connection with current TIP feed can be tested in external test system 2 (GCF2) already today. A specific DDS port has been set up to support Soup. If you want to start testing there (before new test environment is available in December) please contact DataProducts@nasdaq.com for username and password.

In December 2014, a brand new test site with all new GCF 3.0 features will be introduced. Details will be informed via IT Notices and our web site (see below).

Mandatory testing period

In order to be able to verify the customer’s capability to manage SoupBin connections, there will a mandatory test period before the GCF production launch. During that period, customers will have to login to the new external test system, and confirm that there were no problems with the new setup. More details will be provided via IT Notices and our GCF web pages closer to the test period.

This test period will begin late February 2015 and finish early March, 2015.
