no 45/12 NASDAQ OMX Commodities launches German Day Futures, Estonian CfD, extends Finnish and Swedish CfD curves, enhances UK Spark Spread functionality and introduces mandatory changes to SPAN file

In response to customer demand, NASDAQ OMX Commodities is pleased to announce the launch of new instruments and functionality in Genium INET. Genium INET will be upgraded to version 0220 during the weekend 24-26 November, 2012. Subject to successful testing and regulatory approval, the enhancements listed below will be activated for members according to a detailed time plan which will be published in due course.

German Day Futures

Subject to successful testing, German Day Futures will be launched. The number of tradable series will vary between 3 and 9 depending on trading day. The product calendar will be updated to reflect the launch of these products in due course.

Introduction of Estonian CfD

Subject to successful testing, NASDAQ OMX Commodities will launch Estonian price area CfD products. The Estonian forward curve will cover 2 monthly, 3 quarterly and 3 yearly contracts. The instruments will be referenced against the electricity spot price published by Nord Pool Spot. The product calendar will be updated to reflect the launch of these products in due course.

Extension of Finnish and Swedish forward CfD curves

Subject to successful testing, NASDAQ OMX Commodities will extend the Finnish and Swedish CfD curves. The Finnish and Swedish CfD curves will now cover 4 monthly, 4 quarterly and 4 yearly contracts. The product calendar will be updated to reflect the launch of these products in due course.

UK Spark Spreads enhancements

Subject to successful testing, the UK market Spark Spreads functionality will be enhanced with the ability to match combinations with underlying instruments.

SPAN file changes

SPAN file content will be affected by the introduction of the Estonian CfD as this will be considered as a new Risk Group.

NASDAQ OMX Commodities will introduce mandatory changes to the SPAN-File format.

NASDAQ OMX Commodities SPAN-File will have an increase of number of characters in the “Priority” Field from 3 to 6 in SPAN record type 11. Note that zeroes shall be used to fill the field. (Example priority = 1444): 1101340014440182030050010A012050011B

All users of the SPAN file are kindly requested to review IT notice 56/12 for technical details.

External test activities

NASDAQ OMX Commodities encourages members and Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) to access Genium INET External Test System 2 to test the new features. Please see IT notice 56/12 for further details.

Member extranet

The member extranet http://nordic.nasdaqomxtrader.com/memberextranet/genium_inet/ is updated at all times with the latest Genium INET related documentation. 

The market model document (Appendix A and section 7.9) will in the future be updated with the above mentioned changes to products and functionalities.
