Thomas Woldbye appointed new CEO of Copenhagen Airports

Copenhagen Airports A/S has appointed Thomas Woldbye as its new CEO. He will replace Brian Petersen, who stepped down on 1 October 2010.
Thomas Woldbye is Group CEO of the Norfolkline Group in A. P. Moller Maersk, where he has pursued his career since starting as a trainee 27 years ago.
Based on his 17 years as a senior manager in an international company, Thomas Woldbye has gained comprehensive and allround management experience in operational as well as commercial areas.
“We selected Thomas Woldbye not least on account of his extensive management experience from an international company. He has headed numerous strategic change and transformation projects and has extensive infrastructure development experience. This experience will prove valuable in the challenges that Copenhagen Airports will be facing in the years ahead in its capacity as a key player in developing Denmark’s international accessibility and competitiveness,” said Henrik Gürtler, chairman of the board.
Thomas Woldbye has a degree in finance from Copenhagen Business School and has completed business studies at London Business School and IMD in Switzerland. Having spent 20 years abroad, first in Asia and the past ten years in Europe, Thomas Woldbye and his wife and three children will return to Denmark, where he will take up the position as CEO of Copenhagen Airports.
“I look forward to taking up my new position. All Danes, including myself, depend on and are proud of Copenhagen Airport, and I will do my best to ensure that this pride will live on. I look forward to drawing on my experience from Maersk and Norfolkline, where I have worked closely with logistics operations and relations with passengers and business partners,” Thomas Woldbye said.
Thomas Woldbye will take up his position on 1 May 2011.
