Effnet AB launches Effnet Ethernet Header Compression™

Effnet AB, the leading
provider of header compression software for
wireless and fixed networks, today
announced the launch of a new
product, Effnet Ethernet Header Compression™
(Effnet EthHC™). With this
extension of the Effnet header compression product
portfolio, Effnet
customers are able to save even more bandwidth by
efficiently
compressing Ethernet headers and reducing overhead in conjunction
with
IP/UDP/RTP, IP/UDP, IP/TCP and IP/ESP headers. This product is
targeted
towards users of IP-based applications over Ethernet on
satellite,
WiMAX, and backhaul networks. It can be used by manufacturers
of
satellite modems and hubs, WiMAX terminals and base-stations or
gateways,
backhaul link modems (e.g. microwave) and gateways.

Ethernet is the most dominant link layer technology used to carry
IP
traffic. When Ethernet packets are carried over networks with their

standardized link layer technology, the Ethernet header represents
an
overhead. Effnet's new product, Effnet Ethernet Header Compression™,
has
been developed to efficiently compress the Ethernet header overhead. It
is
designed to work in perfect symbiosis with the Effnet ROHCTM product
portfolio,
and can also be used as an independent product. 

As with all other members of
the Effnet header compression product
family, Effnet EthHC™ is highly portable
and has been tested on multiple
operating systems, such as VxWorks, Nucleus,
Linux, Solaris, Windows and
multiple processor architectures, e.g. ARM,
PowerPC, x86 and MIPS.
